Harry Potter mistakes

Even witches make mistakes now and again, and JKR has made more than a few in writing the Harry Potter books!
Here is a short list!

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, we read that the Elixir of life makes the one who drinks it immortal. Later on we hear Dumblodore saying that Nicolas Flammel has just enough of it to fix some affairs and then he and his wife will die. Which of course is impossible since they must have been made immortal!
"...come home every vacation with her pockets full of frog spawn, turning teacups into rats...,"
This is what Harry's aunt Petunia says about his mother, Lilly Potter. Which of course can't be true cos it was illegal for Hogwarts pupils to perform magic outside the school!
Hagrid and Harry leave the hut on the rock where the Dursleys had taken him on a little boat- the one they had used to get there. This of course meant that the Dursleys were left behind with no boat and no means of escaping!
In Hogwarts letter it says that Harry can bring a cat, an owl or a toad. The rat Ron brings is nowhere to be found on the list!
Ron is the knight in the game of magical chess played in the end of book1. Then it is said that he will have to move forward, so that the queen takes him, which is of course impossible as the knight never moces forward indeed!
In the first Harry Potter movie, all those letters that came for him. Well if the Durslys and Harry went on a small island of rock with no way of getting off how could they get rid of all those letters so quickly without any one in their neighbor hood noticing. (thanks to HairGirl 1117)
In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, we read that James was a HeadBoy but in the 5th book Sirius said that James wasn't even a Prefect! (thanks to candi)
In the 1st book Snape takes away harry's "Quidditch through the Ages" saying libary boooks are not alowed outside the libary but hermoine gave it to him to read (thanks to potterfreak)
In the fifth book when Malfoy docks points from Harry and his friends, Ernie goes its only prefects who can dock points Malfoy. Yet in the second harry potter book, when Ron and Harry and Hermione were found in Myrtels bathroom, Percy who was a prefect does take points from Grryfindor (thanks to aleeza)
In the 2nd book Ron says that Fred had turned his bed into a spider. This is however impossible since no magic is allowed outside the walls of Hogwarts for students! (thanks to SHELBY BOYLE)
In book one, Harry shakes hands with Quirrell in his first time in the Leaky cauldron, but isn't Quirrell suposed tu burn when Harry Touches him?(thanks to Irina)
in book 3 when ron get pulled in the room with sirius black, his leg was injured so he sat on the bed, but when Lumpin came in it said Lumpin looked at ron who was on the floor (thanks to back_off_cho_harrys_mine)
in the 4th book in the chapter were they turn so called Moody into crouch with the potion. When he is turned into Barty Crouch JR. and he starts confessing it says:moody said. But he is Crouch(thanks to back_off_cho_harrys_mine)
in the third book, pg it says
"...the only person Harry had heard the name (apart from himself) was professor dumbledore."
and yet when hagrid was telling harry his history, he says voldermort, although he doesn''t like it (thanks to pick bus)
In the fifth book, when Harry, Ron and Hermione have a meeting in the Hog's Head, they invite along some students from hogwarts including Dennis Creevey, who couldn't actually have gone to Hogsmade in the first place because he was only in second year.
You can't go to Hogsmade until you are in third year. Also he probably didn't know enough magic at that stage to be as good as the other DA members. (thanks to DPC)
In the harrypotter books 1,2and three the quiditch captain for the slytherin team(marcus flint) was mentioned as a sixth year in the first book. In the second book Marcus flint is in his final year at hogwarts. However in the third book when harry faces slytherin crabbe goyle Malfor and marcus flint try to scare harryby dressing up as dementor. ther are only 7 yars in hogwarts and marcus is still in the third when his final year was in the second book. In book #3, it says that Percy got his top NEWTs and Fred and George scraped a handful of OWLs each, but in the fifth book, Harry said that he could expect some mail over the holidays, because they would be getting their OWL results in July. How come Fred and George got their OWL results at the end of June of their third year? (thanks to Erin Eggleton)
At the end of GoF; Harry rides the "horseless" carriages back to Hogsmeade station on his way to Kingscross. But, having witnessed Cedric die, he should have seen the Threstals pulling the carriages (thanks to F Cosco)
in the second book in the chapter"Dobby's Reward"it says that Dobby dissappears with a final crack when we all know that you CANNOT apparate or disapperate in Hogwarts (thanks to bianca)
in the 3rd book when harry has got a godfather he has not been chrisend (thanks to Drew Adams
when harry was a baby he witnessed his mother die. shouldn't he see the thestrals before the fourth year. well we knwo he went in the boats in the 1st year. 2nd year he crashed into a tree with mr. weasleys car. but the third year..... he should have seen them (thanks to puremuggle)
In Book5 before the OWLs Pavarti and Lavender made PENCIL cases race.But at Hogwarts you use quills and parchment.So why would they have pencil cases?(thanks to Padfoot_the_wolf)
in the fourth book J.K. typed sumething then put 'said moody' and she wrote this after everyone found out about the impersonater so she should have put 'said crouch'(thanks to weasleyluver731)
In the first book, when JKR is describing Scabbers, she doesn't mention that he has a toe missing. This is not exactly a mistake, but I really think she should have mentioned it, as it now looks as if Scabbers lost his toe in book 3.(thanks to Dianne)
in the fourth book the word pen was used when the wizards and witches only use quills not pens. (thanks to matthew lindsay)

The mistake that says In the 1st book Snape takes away harrys "Quidditch through the Ages" saying libary boooks are not alowed outside the libary but hermoine gave it to him to read by potterfreak would be right if Snape had confiscated it INSIDE THE CASTLE but Harry, Ron and Hermione were in the grounds (outside the castle) when he did. Hermione was in the castle when she gave the book to Harry so there were no rules being broken. (also, we hear them say that they think Snape had just made up that rule on the spot as to punish Harry)
The mistake that says In the fifth book when Malfoy docks points from Harry and his friends, Ernie goes its only prefects who can dock points Malfoy. Yet in the second harry potter book, when Ron and Harry and Hermione were found in Myrtels bathroom, Percy who was a prefect does take points from Grryfindor by aleeza would be true if it said its only TEACHERS who can dock points Malfoy! (impaled upon your own sword there Aleeza??)
The mistake that says In the 2nd book Ron says that Fred had turned his bed into a spider. This is however impossible since no magic is allowed outside the walls of Hogwarts for students! by SHELBY BOYLE is wrong for several reasons. First of all Fred turned Rons TEDDY BEAR into a spider, not his bed. And secondly, and most importantly, Ron was only 3 years old when this happened so Fred (and George) would only have been about 5 or 6, and therefore not a Hogwarts student. However, how Fred was able to do magic or indeed had a wand at this age, i do not know!
The mistake that says In book one, Harry shakes hands with Quirrell in his first time in the Leaky cauldron, but isnt Quirrell suposed to burn when Harry Touches him? by Irina is wrong. The only reason that Quirrell could not touch Harry was because he was being posessed by Voldemort. However, during Harrys first visit to the Leaky Cauldron Quirrell was not being posessed by voldemort (hense the absence of his turban) and therefore was completeley free to toutch Harry as much as he liked (however, if he had got two carried away we might have a case on our hands not so different to that of Michael Jacksons!!!).

How come Fred and George got their OWL results at the end of June of their third year? by Erin Eggleton is true, that is to say that they shouldnt have recieved thier exam results until the summer holdays. However, the fact that Fred and George were at the end of their 3rd year is wrong. They were at the end of their 5th year.
This mistake is not actually wrong but i have a comment to add anyway. It says that At the end of GoF; Harry rides the "horseless" carriages back to Hogsmeade station on his way to Kingscross. But, having witnessed Cedric die, he should have seen the Threstals pulling the carriages. By F Cosco. This is true, Harry should have been able to see the thestrals at the end of his 4th year. The thing i have to say is this; J.K Rowling herself has commented upon this. She was asked the question of why he couldnt see the thestrals and this is what she said: Well i didnt want to start a new mystery, which would not be resolved for ma long time, at the very end of the forth book. I decided, therefore, that until Harry is over the first shock, and really feels what death means (ie, when he fully appreciates that cedric is gone forever and that he can never come back, which takes time, whatever age you are) he would not be able to see the thestrals. After two months away from school during which he has dwelled endlessly on his memories of the murder and had nightmares about it, the thestrals have taken shape and form and he can see them quite clearly. However, I find this all to be nonsence as Harry did not see Cedric die in the first place, he had his eyes closed!!!
The mistake that says in the second book in the chapter"Dobbys Reward"it says that Dobby dissappears with a final crack when we all know that you CANNOT apparate or disapperate in Hogwarts by bianca may not be true. The book does say that Dobby does disappear with a final CRACK but it does not say specifically that he apperated.
The mistake that says in the 3rd book when harry has got a godfather he has not been chrisend by Drew Adams is wrong. Harry only found out he had a Godfather in his third year, he was christened when he was a baby.
The mistake that says when harry was a baby he witnessed his mother die. shouldnt he see the thestrals before the fourth year. well we know he went in the boats in the 1st year. 2nd year he crashed into a tree with mr. weasleys car. but the third year..... he should have seen them by puremuggle once again isnt wrong. However, J.K. Rowling has made coments on this. She has said that Harry didnt see his parents die. He was in his cot at the time (he was just over a year old) and, as i say in "Philosophers stone", all he saw was a flash of green light.
